On 1 June 2026 we handed over our first car.
Two vehicles. No counter, no storefront, no lot with a boom gate. A 2024 Volkswagen Jetta, a 2023 Volkswagen Taos, and a conviction that most of what happens at a rental desk doesn't need to happen at all.
Getting there took months of sourcing vehicles, arranging insurance, writing policies and building software. What it produced was simple enough to say in a sentence: you book online, we bring the car to you.
We didn't want a smaller version of the rental counter
The traditional rental business is built around big airport facilities and centralised storefronts. That model works, and for plenty of travellers it's fine. It's less fine when you're standing at a hotel in Hollywood, or waiting on a body shop in Dania Beach, or visiting family, and the nearest branch is a taxi ride and an hour of your day away.
Our goal was never to reproduce a large rental facility at a smaller scale. It was to remove the parts of the process that don't do anything for the renter. The line doesn't. The counter doesn't. The forty minutes of paperwork you could have done on your sofa the night before certainly doesn't.
What's left is the part that actually matters: a clean, modern car, arriving where you already are, at a price you saw before you paid it.
We built the software too
Most small rental companies rent their operating system from someone else, and end up running their business the way that software insists. We went the other way and built ours: FlockOS, the platform that handles Atlas bookings, delivery scheduling, identity and license verification, rental agreements and pricing.
That's an unusual thing for a two-car rental company to do, and it's the reason the experience looks the way it does. When something in the booking flow is confusing, we don't file a support ticket and wait — we change it. Every awkward moment a renter has is something we can fix directly, and usually that week.
It also means the itemized quote you see before paying is the real calculation, not an estimate a system produced and a person hoped was close.
Two cars, chosen on purpose
We opened with two vehicles rather than the largest fleet we could finance.
The
Jetta covers most trips: efficient, comfortable, easy to park in a city built around parking you can't find. The
Taos adds cargo room and a higher seating position for families, luggage and beach kit, at the same daily rate. Between them they cover the two shapes of trip our renters actually take.
Starting small was deliberate. We wanted to learn from real reservations before deciding what to buy next — and we'd rather run a handful of cars properly than a lot of them adequately.
Booking, and why there are steps
You choose dates and a vehicle, verify your identity and license, confirm insurance or add renter coverage, and pay — all before anything is scheduled. Then we confirm the car, the delivery window and anything outstanding by email or text.
Those checks aren't there to slow you down; they're what makes it possible to hand a car to someone we've never met, at an address that isn't ours. Doing them online means they're finished before we arrive instead of being rushed through in a parking lot. The
FAQ covers deposits, tolls, additional drivers, extensions and returns, and
how delivery works walks through the handover itself.
Pricing is itemized before you pay — the daily rate, delivery, any coverage you've chosen, and taxes, all visible up front. If you're comparing options,
how to find an affordable rental in Fort Lauderdale makes the case for reading the total rather than the headline rate.
Where we go
We're based in Hollywood and deliver across
Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Hallandale Beach, Dania Beach, Davie and Aventura — to homes, hotels, offices, vacation rentals and the airport area. Details of local service and current availability are on our
Fort Lauderdale delivery page.
Because we're small and local, the people who prepare and deliver your car are the people you reach when you call. There's no line for that either.
What we're building
Launching wasn't the finish line — it was the point where the planning stopped and real renters started. From here we'll grow the fleet deliberately, keep sharpening the booking and delivery experience, and keep publishing what we know about renting and driving in South Florida.
The company will change. The intent shouldn't: dependable cars, clear expectations, and delivery to where you actually are.
We're open
Atlas Auto Rental is taking reservations across Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and the surrounding areas. Browse
what's available, get an itemized quote, and we'll bring the car to you.
Thank you to the customers, local businesses, friends and neighbours who backed this when it was still an idea and two cars. We're glad to be open.
